If you are using a recent version of the more popular browsers, Hold down the control key and press the + key twice.
That will most often make a big difference in the readability of the forum.

By the way, in FireFox 3.0 -- when you set the size of the font -- it will only affect the site you do it on, and not any other site.

If you want to make the fonts smaller -- then hold the control key and press the - key until you get to the desired size.
Recap:
Control + (Plus sign) makes text larger
Control - (Minus sign) makes the text smaller
