Hello, I have a numbers matching 63 Belvedere and want to build the poly motor in it. I'd like to get around 375/400 rear wheel HP. Will run a 3000 converter and around a 370 something rear gear. I can deliver the motor to the builder. Would like to use as much of my parts as possible to keep it undercover. Any suggestions? Thanks, 62 year ole hot rodder. Gary

We have a 318 poly with bent push rods. There is no apparent cause. Cam and lifters seem ok. The engine ran with one cal. missing. When we checked compression with no spark and plugs out, 4 more lifters were bent into severe s shapes. We have not opened to see timing chain, and have not yet pulled a head, but does anyone know of this with the poly engines?

Teddy, sure sounds like a tear down is in order. The 318 is not so special that bent pushrods should be happening unless something is seriously out of order.
