hello
I'm going to use the crane ductile rockers, but i just got the hughes billet hold downs.Instructions say .010 for a side clearance between rockers???
Is that before and after each rocker for a total of .040 for a pair of rocker arms (intake/exhaust)??
could you explain how to set them up?
thank-you

I'd look for .010 each-total 20-30 (you'll have hall getting them perfect). Some think solid spacers/side clearance is not important, but I think properly controlled, it aids in geometry and consistency. You use spacers to move the rockers back and forth/ space them. In basic terms, you want the roller centered side to side on the valve stem and I like .028 total free clearance if you slide them back and forth together.

i end up with .023 clearance/free play, with the rocker still centered over the valve? i just do not want to mess them up,because of them being too tight?

That should be fine- if you are nervous, warm the engine at low rpm , pull a valve cover and check that they still "jiggle"- Fugly's are set on .015 total-I leave the line at 5400-6500 and shift at 7800-8000-going on 7 year old motor and they are fine....
